Inspiration...

Well as i'm building up the second 15 man traitor squad i've been happily reading "Lord of Night" and have regained my building/painting fervor. Should have pics of the second traitor squad tomorrow night put together atleast if i have time maybe primed.

I was roaming on bolter and chainsword board and noticed two very cool pictures...

This isn't my work but a poster named Daemonclaw used without permission, but since i didn't feel like logging in to leave a comment (and because it was 3 pages back) i'll honor him here.

This gave me great ideas... what marine army is games workshops best cheerleader? Ultra Marines of course... ::devilish grin:: The big blue smurfs as they are known in some corners of the net galaxy. Well knowing my hatred for most things marine like i decided "trophies" and "objectives" would be Ultramarine casualties or injuries. These marines will no longer walk among men as gods! not anymore they won't!

Now you might say... "whats wrong with this guy? why does he hate marines so much?" Well my friend honestly for an army "so few in number..." everyone seems to play them..Pick up any White Dwarf and count how many pages contain a marine... For any army so pure and devout they wipe out planets for a single "heretic".. Bling faith i think is one of the most outstanding things out there. Like they say "an empire built on blood ends in blood".

But thats enough anti-marine propaganda for today, i've been thinking of what i wanted to spend my $50 on this month i picked up 2 blisters of confrontation miniatures ($27) because they are very cool of course and was thinking of making them aspiring champs.. Or if i'm just going to use them to paint lots of decisions... Either that or spend $40 for a mutant squad 20 men/things strong... I'll decide by tomorrow hopefully with some pictures/results on WIP stuff. Ah well i'm off for now till tomorrow take it easy guys!

Rollin' in teh dough...

Well as i missed month 1 and we are in month 2 my bankroll is jacked up to $150 US. I roughly had a plan when it came to spending atleast with the first $100 or so. I bought myself the lovely $90 Catachan Battle Force which carries 25 catachans, 3 heavy weapons, and 2 sentinels oh yeah and 2 stands of trees ::shrugs:: ill take what i can get. With that excellent buy a topped it off with $10 for a blister of Catachan Officers that i would use as agitators in the army.

My list so far more or less looks like:

Traitors x10 (80) w/ melta gun (10) & missile launcher (15) total: 105pts

Traitors x15 (120) w/ plasma gun (10) & lascannon (20) w/ agitator (18) plasma pistol (10) & ccw total: 170pts

Sentinels x2 (70) w/ lascannons (40) total: 110pts

total points so far are 385pts with $50 left to spend on my hearts desire. So far i can get a small battle partol mission in which is what i might try over the weekend either versus friends or at the local g-dubbs.

Well as a promised here are 2 pictures of Moreno's Squad (traitor x10 w/ meltagun & missile launcher) its my first try painting camo. And i'm also not so sure how to work this wacky picture program...

A Tale of Dakka Gamers...

This follows roughly the guidlines that is set forth from the popular white dwarf article named "a tale of four gamers" where they started with a set amount and used roughly half each month to build their army. This series originally ran for a couple of a months each month they would report their findings on what was effective and tweaked their list or of battles they have had.

I've always wanted to do guard, but i never quite liked hte whole "ave emperor" type thing so instead i decided i wanted to do a lost and damned force, honestly it was the white dwarf that had those neat mutant conversions but soon after converting a mutant squad i lost interest as my group went into full on fantasy mode... The Lost and Damned was named "Last and Damned" by myself and a couple of my friends.

When 4th ed. hit or more precisely when marines got their new codex my hate for them increased ten fold and I decided that i MUST make an army of traitors. Most people would think why not just make chaos marines.. Well because they would still be MARINES! And i've always been one to favor hordes of low quality guys over basically anything in power armour.

Although i didn't make a solid list (i have a couple of plans but nothing concrete) i did know that i wanted a couple of traitor squads and vehicles because once i do most if not all of my Lost and Damned squads i want them to be able to "cross over" to my Traitor Imperial Guard army! Thus giving me two armies for the cost of 1 and 1/4 always a good thing these days with the price on the rise... i heard we are beating crack now a days.. dont worry its just barely kids!

Dont have any real fluff yet but i do know that they will have urban camoflauge or atleast a rough version of it. Of all the sites online that i've been to most people said that on mini's camoflauge isn't all that realistic because you want to model to stand out, rather in real camo you want to be able to blend in and disappear. Makes sense and allows me a bit of sleep at night so i dont spend hours making the scheme too "realistic" and more superficial than anything else.

Next i was thinking of modeling the aspiring champs instead of chaos marines to be comissars or officers of the army... maybe if i take obliterators to make them corrupted/infested adeptus mechaincus that fell to the machien curse/virus. So many ideas.. but for now i'm off to bed... tomorrow i'll post what i'm buying/bought with my money along with a few pictures! so stay tuned!
